Medical Marijuana for Multiple Sclerosis

MS or multiple sclerosis is something that’s dramatically increased in the last 50 years. Without an exact cause pinpointed, and more research is being done. Marijuana is something that may help with spasms, pain, reducing fatigue, and also managing the symptoms for those who deal with MS daily.

What is It?

Multiple sclerosis is something that this the brain’s nerves along with the spinal cord. It basically is an autoimmune condition where the brain goes and straight-up attacks your myelin, which is that layer of fat which protects the neuron axons. This degrades the main protective part of this, and it results in numb feeling, memory issues, pain, issues with the mood, and so much more, and the symptoms might be a challenge for those who have MS, but medical cannabis is a good, helpful way to treat it, even though it’s not a cure.

Using Cannabis for This

Cannabis is great for muscle spasms, especially those who have MS and deal with it.

According to an article that was published back in 2009, it was discovered that muscle spasticity decreased when you used cannabis. While it does require a bit more research, the feedback from caretakes, patients, along with physicians does say that medical cannabis might be good for those who have MS. Medical cannabis, especially marijuana may not only help with the symptoms, providing relief, but also may be a good alternative especially if you’re someone looking to reduce the amount of drugs that you’re taking.

Medical cannabis not only helps with spasms, but other things too, including the following:

  • Tremors

  • Spasms

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Dizziness

  • Pain

  • Fatigue

  • Numbness

For patients that live with this, it can be an option when there isn’t an option. Many patients are told that they’re “no option” patients, which means that they can’t just use other treatments for this. However, this makes inflammation and pain so bad though that it limits their ability to actually do basic tasks, and even be involved in their loved one’s life.

However, through medical cannabis, it can help those who struggle with pain, improving their quality of life.

There are other patents who benefit from this too in different ways.  It can happen especially in those who struggle with motor coordination, or even forming basic words. Sometimes, the pain is unbearable, and even after multiple surgeries and drugs, it is hard to manage that. However, medical cannabis is an option.  With this, you can actually not only live the life that you want to, but also be a great parent to your family, and also be able to exist and provide the best life possible to them.

Medical cannabis is something that’s also a part of the Compassionate Use Program, where every single day as it’s being used, it actually can help with differing conditions. High-quality medicines are good for people who deal with this, and with more and more states legalizing it, it’s something that’s definitely become quite the hit for a lot of people interested in this.

If you’re someone who has issues with MS, or suffers from the effects of this, you’re certainly not alone. In fact, by treating this now, you can continue to live your life, especially in a healthy, beneficial manner. For a lot of people, this is the beginning of something great, and many who are medical cannabis patients can get the help that they deserve, and also the treatments that’ll get them on the right path not just to health and wellness, but to a better life.

Can Marijuana Reduce Opioid Usage?

For a lot of people, opioids are what they turn to for help. This substance is basically a pain reliever coming directly from the poppies, and they can help with extreme pain. they’re considered painkillers. The problem is that while they’re effective, they’re also quite dangerous, since they do improve tolerance over time, so more people have to take larger amounts over time, and it can also reduce breathing and heart rates, to the point where it does put a person’s life in danger. But because they’re great for reducing pain and feeling good, it’s something very easy to get addicted to.

With over 2 million users in the US alone, this is something that’s increased a lot as well, especially the addiction rates to this one, and there have been deaths too. The threat is so bad that it’s actually been declared an opioid usage disorder, and it’s something that’s becoming a major problem. This is because there are a lot of people coming forward with deaths, especially in places where medical marijuana has yet to be legalized. There was also a lot of people using less and less of this, and with marijuana, it takes out the risk of a possible opioid usage disorder, and it can help with condition management.

How Marijuana Helps t

Here are different studies and hypotheses that actually show that yes, medical marijuana can help with this, reducing the usage of this and becoming one of the best alternatives to this.

When you take it under a doctor’s watching and monitoring, you will definitely be able to control chronic pain and other symptoms too. It lowers pain signals and sensation and helps offer proper relief to the body as well. With more research still ongoing on the different reactions of cannabis to other parts of the body, and organs offering you a chance to safely consume this drug, the pain-relieving elements of this are already established though, and those who suffer from chronic pain do turn to this as a form of pain relief. This is something that a lot of people actually use already as a means to control the pain that they’re feeling as well.

How to use It

The best way to use this, is to replace the painkillers slowly with this. Those states that have dispensaries which are legalized can get you marijuana in order to help you use this. Remember that it is a controlled substance, so if you use it wrongfully, it can definitely lead to bad consequences, so make sure to get help from experts.

A lot of people complete the certifications for this, and then they get the medical marijuana requirements or recommendations. They look at the injury, and your medical history, and they tell you what to use. With two different parts to this, you do get different effects, but also is why you should take this with caution, and this is something that has different components which are active, in order to get truly amazing results, and it’s something that helps you actually get some amazing benefits that come with this too. It’s something that you should start off with a little bit at first, and also, you need to see how your body feels on this too.

Remember that you shouldn’t use this indiscriminately, since it is a controlled substance, and it’s something that you want to make sure your doctor lets you know about before they approve you. Patients that have this should make sure to talk to the doctor before you decide to try using tis for best results.

The Stigma Around Medical Cannabis Usage

Medical cannabis is something that’s been accepted by many but is still considered controversial, especially if people who see it still believe that it’s just a drug people take to get high. Lots of people assume those who use it are just lazy and trying to chase a high, but that comes mostly from misinformation, but in reality, it’s one of the best ways to treat a variety of condition. Physicians, patients, and researchers is working to stop these stigmas, changing this so that the narrative is not something bad, but something really good too. It’s an alternative for medical trugs and treatments in a ton of cases.

The Cannabis Debate

The reason why there is a lot of news and stigma surrounding this is for a few reasons. The first is politics.  Political parties and influencers have played a major role in the spread of misinformation surrounding cannabis to the people that read up on it, and don’t offer true data instead. This has caused issues with legalization, and a lot of stereotypes that come with this. A lo of people get this information along with that knowledge from a variety of locations, including news outlets and the views of other people who are looking to keep those claims and views.

Some people believe that marijuana isn’t treatment, but they’re missing out on something potential that could benefit their life.  The stigmatization of this does come from the side effects that are found in it, mostly THC. THC is something that controls the function of the brain because of how it attaches to your receptors in order to offer concentration, coordination, controlling the pleasures, and movement too. When people sometimes take this, they lose their ability to control themselves, their concentration, and their focus. These side effects, especially when seen, make people believe that people who use weed are irresponsible, but in reality, there’s a lot of people who use it to better their lives.

The Effects of This

Because the stigma tends to be a little bit prevalent, a lot of people aren’t interested in getting treatment, and those that end up doing so don’t tell their friends or families about it. This also becomes a challenge for some people, and it’s a challenge that a lot of people deal with. Most patients, however, are educating more and more about the benefits of marijuana to other people.

Plus with more and more research that’s credible, it’s something that hopefully we’ll be able to stop stigmatizing, and instead, make it something that will indeed help you feel better, and much happier as well.

A big part of tis is the legalization of this. There are now cards that a person with a condition can get to get the right kinds of marijuana. This is something that a lot of people see as different, and not just a as a recreational item, but something more. Educating others, talking to a doctor, and even seeking out experts is something that a lot of cannabis people need to do. The experts are great for removing those worries that you might have, and also help you make the proper choices surrounding your life.

Doctors also can prescribe certain cannabis products to manage pain, and also mitigate the side effects. Marijuana is not some sort of hippie drug that’s extremely addictive, but instead, it’s a way to help treat major problems that come with this, and also, help you feel better, and happier as well, changing the game not just for you as a patient, but for others.
